Abstract
Time-resolved absorption spectra of psoralen, 5-methoxypsoralen and 8-methoxypsoralen revealed that the conversion of the T1 state into the radical anion occurs much more efficiently in 8-methoxypsoralen than in the other two. Time-resolved resonance Raman spectra of these furocoumarins showed that the psoralen skeleton is considerably weakened in the T1 state and radical anion.
