Abstract
In Warsaw, on February 18, 1896, the physicist Wiktor Biernacki delivered a lecture on X-rays, and on May 19 of the same year, Mikołaj Brunner, head physician of the Holy Ghost Hospital, at a meeting of the Warsaw Medical Society, demonstrated 20 roentgenograms made by means of a personally constructed apparatus (Fig. 1). In the same year, Brunner published an article in the Medical Gazette entitled “Roentgen rays and roentgenography and their medical applications”.
This article is based on the paper by A. K. Rowiński and A. Marciński (1972) Beginnings and development of pediatric radiology in Poland. Polish Review of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine 36:135–142.
