Part of the book series: Springer Proceedings in Physics ((SPPHY,volume 73))

Abstract

This chapter discusses the 3 dimensional surface chemistry of aluminosilicate zeolites. The feasibility of carrying out surface science experiments with well defined single crystals is demonstrated, using XPS, FTIR, TPD and tunnelling microscopy as examples. Other techniques which exploit the high internal surface area of zeqlites include NMR spectroscopy, x-ray absorbtion and EPR spectroscopy.
