The Potential Use of Parenteral Dipeptides in Clinical Nutrition

Abstract

Few areas of medical research and development have been the scene of such substantial and valuable progress as has the recent surge of research in artificial nutrition. Inevitably, this progress is largely interdependent on the current biochemical knowledge and recent discoveries with regard to cellular bioenergetics and transport mechanisms. The dramatic revolution in molecular biology provides novel therapeutical means on condition that these new gains in technology become available in the clinical routine. One of the affected areas, clearly applicable to the practice of clinical nutrition, is provision of tissue specific nutrients [1].
