Abstract

The ballistic transport of phonons through a point contact (PC) can be realized when the characteristic dimension of the contact (d) fulfils two conditions;
  1. (i)

    d » λph, where λph is the phonon characteristic wavelength.

     
  2. (ii)

    d « l ph where l ph is the phonon mean free path [1].
