Abstract

For 5 years, an 84-year-old woman had been followed for a large left renal mass which had slowly increased in size until it was removed for symptoms of gross hematuria and left flank pain. Diagnosis was adenocarcinoma of the kidney. Eight months post-operatively she complained of right lumbar pain. Computed tomography (CT) showed a large right paralumbar mass invading the vertebrae. She was disoriented as to place and her illness.
