Abstract

This 46-year-old woman had a low anterior resection of a grade 1 polypoid adenocarcinoma of the rectum at 10 cm. One of ten nodes was positive. Preoperatively and postoperatively, her level of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) was 12 ng/ml. Postoperative irradiation was given.
