Abstract

Methods to obtain finite-size scaling estimates for an effective dimension and critical exponents both for numerical transfer matrix data and Monte Carlo data are presented. Results for the d=2 and d=3 Ising model are compared with critical exponents from d = 4 — ο and d = 1 + ∈ expansions.

  10. This section of the paper was appended to the revised manuscript due to progress made during the workshop. The scaling result with deff for Monte Carlo data was derived during the workshop, and the Monte Carlo data for the d=3 Ising model was generously provided by A. M. Ferrenberg and D. P. Landau during the workshop.
