Abstract

The crystal chemistry and superconductivity have been investigated for compounds of the type of REBaSrCu3Ox (RE ≡ La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Y, Ho, Er, Tm, Lu) and MA2 RECu2O8−y(M ≡ Nb or Ta, A ≡ Ba or Sr and RE ≡ Pr or Sm). The powder X-ray diffraction analysis of REBaSrCu3Ox revealed a structural phase transition from tetragonal to orthorhombic, when the ionic radius of the RE3+ decreases. The MSr2RECu2O8−y compounds crystallized in a tetragonal structure similar to that of Y-123.
