Phase Coherence of Normal Electrons in Mesoscopic Composite Systems with Normal and Superconducting Segments

Abstract

The phase memory of a normal electron is shown to vanish in a superconductor when its size is larger than ξ. Effects of the Andreev reflection on the conductance fluctuation and the A-B type oscillation in NSN composite wire systems are discussed. A simple conductance formula of the Landauer type is presented for a small system with a single superconducting segment.
