Abstract

Orbital magnetization of two-dimensional electron systems in external confining potential is calculated. At low temperature the magnetization show sample specific fluctuation that is much larger than the average. It is shown that at higher temperature the fluctuation decays exponentially, and Landau diamagnetism is realized. It is also shown that average of the fluctuating magnetization at T = 0 also gives the Landau diamagnetism.
