Abstract
It is argued that conceptual change involves not only the addition of new information to existing conceptual structures but also the reorganization of existing conceptual structures and the reinterpretation of entrenched beliefs based on everyday experience. The more information we have about the knowledge acquisition process in a learner model the better chances we have of designing successful instructional sequences.
