Application of Synergetics to Psychology

Evolution of Dynamical Structures in Complex Systems

Part of the book series: Springer Proceedings in Physics ((SPPHY,volume 69))

Abstract

The present contribution illustrates some possible applications of synergetics to psychology. The success of Prof. Haken and his colleagues in explaining fundamental psychological functioning related to perception, pattern recognition and learning by means of synergetic modeling is readily apparent. In addition to these basic functions with which general psychology is concerned, examples will also be given of the application of synergetics to evolutionary patterns of schizophrenia and processes occurring within psychotherapy, research domains traditionally associated with psychiatry, abnormal and clinical psychology.
