Abstract
In the laser cutting technology the cut quality depends among other things on the position of the laser focal point to the workpiece. To receive high-quality cuts without burr, it is necessary that the laser cutting head is positioned at an optimum clearance to the workpiece with a tolerance of not more than +−0,1mm.
LASERMATICII Is a completely new developed system which has been designed especially for the laser cutting technology. Thus the special requirements of this technology could be taken into consideration. The system consists of a laser cutting head, a SENSOR UNIT, a μC UNIT and a μC REMOTE CONTROL
The copper nozzle together with the workpiece forms a capacity which depends on the clearance. Via a coaxial cable this sensor is directly connected to the SENSOR UNIT which converts the measured capacitance to an analog voltage from 0 to 10 volts in a clearance range of 0 to 10mm. Because even changes down to 0,00001 pF can be detected by the SENSOR UNIT, the measured distance is very precise. In addition to the analog measurenent capabilities the SENSOR UNIT generates several digital signals which indicate faults. In the μC UNIT the analog measurement voltage is linearized and the control voltage for the motor drive is calculated. A serial interface enables the communication with a CNC, a PC or the μC REMOTE CONTROL
Sensor heads for different focal lengths and special slim shapes for use with 5-axes machines, as well as high dynamic motor drives complete the LASERMATIC II conception.
