Abstract

Evaluation and comparison of the performance of emergency medical care in our communities is not possible without detailed knowledge of the different elements of the “cardiac arrest—resuscitation complex”, i.e. the demographics of the community served by the Emergency Medical Service (EMS)-system, the epidemiology of cardiac arrest, the sequential steps of the intervention process, the clinical course and final outcome of the cardiac arrest victim.
