Abstract
“... the major limiting factor after injury in patients who do not have brain injury is not so much a system, but rather a combination of events that can best be called multiple systems failure, progressive systems failure, or sequential systems failure—... Although not a well-defined syndrome, it involves progressive failure of many or all systems after an overwhelming injury or operation.” (Baue (1975), [1])
