Zusammenfassung

Die vorangegangenen Kapitel behandeln die Strahlungsübertragung innerhalb eines Mediums, bestehend aus dielektrischen Materialien mit der Brechzahl n = 1. Für derartige Materialien liegt ein großer Anwendungsbereich vor, da das absorbierende emittierende Medium oftmals ein Gas ist und fast alle Gase eine Brechzahl nahe bei eins haben (Tabelle 7.1). Viele wichtige Effekte, die bei wissenschaftlichen und technischen Anwendungen ausgenutzt werden, basieren jedoch darauf, daß oft verwendete Materialien eine Brechzahl besitzen, die von Eins verschieden ist, wie die auf gelisteten Materialien in der Tabelle 7.1 zeigen. Die bekanntesten Effekte sind Reflexion und Brechnung an der Grenzschicht. Diese Phänomene bestimmen auch das Verhalten der gebräuchlichen Beschichtungen, dünner Schichten und von Mehrfachverglasungen. Ein weiterer interessanter Effekt ist das Ansteigen der schwarzen Strahlung innerhalb des Mediums um den Faktor n 2.
