Zusammenfassung

Die Eignung des Laserlichtes für die Photoablation von atheromatösem Gewebematerial konnte vor knapp 10 Jahren durch in vitro Experimente demonstriert werden [1]. Weltweit nahmen zahlreiche Arbeitsgruppen diese innovative Idee zum Anlaß, sich auf die Suche nach einer neuen Methode zu begeben, die in der Lage sein sollte, arteriosklerotisches Gewebematerial mit Laserlicht abzutragen.
