Alloplastische Implantate in der Kopf- und Halschirurgie

Zusammenfassung

Ein „Implantat“ bildet nach herkömmlichen Vorstellungen das Gegenstück zum „Transplantat“. Damit wird die Bezeichnung für nicht lebende und im allgemeinen auch nicht dem lebenden Organismus entstammende Stoffe verwendet, die mit dem biologischen System, in das sie eingebracht werden, funktionieren sollen. Vor allem im angloamerikanischen Schrifttum wird hierfür häufig auch der Begriff „Alloplastik“ gebraucht. Ein „Transplantat“ unterscheidet sich davon durch seine Herkunft aus einem lebenden Organismus: das autogene Transplantat entstammt dem Körper, in den es wieder eingebracht wird; das allogene Transplantat einem anderen Körper der gleichen Spezies (z.B. einer menschlichen Leiche); das xenogene Transplantat dem Körper einer anderem Spezies (z.B. Rinderknochen, der beim Menschen eingepflanzt wird).
