Abstract

Since 1969 radical prostatectomy has been the preferred treatment in patients with localized prostate cancer at our institution. It is regarded as the most efficacious treatment modality since complete removal of the cancer offers the possibility to cure patients with localized disease. Many studies published in the last two decades have demonstrated that radical prostatectomy leads to long-term disease-free survival rates.
