Zusammenfassung

Nach der Einführung der ersten effizienten antipsychotischen und antidepressiven Mittel in den 50er Jahren und mit der folgenden Entdeckung, daß diese Mittel auf verschiedene Art und Wesie mit Neurotransmitterfunktionen des ZNS interferieren, nahm die Erforschung des Gehirns neue Wege. In der Tat ist die Entdeckung der neurohumoralen Übertragung als ein wichtiges Prinzip der ZNS-Funktion eng verbunden mit der Aufklärung der Wirkungsweise moderner Psychopharmaka. Weiterhin haben so die biologische Psychiatrie und die Neurologie einen gewaltigen Anstoß erhalten, und neuropsychiatrische Störungen werden nun hauptsächlich als Neurotransmitterstörungen und -Ungleichgewichte diskutiert.
