Abstract

This chapter describes the implementation aspects of the Package for Intelligent Floorplan-ning (PIF) and presents in detail each of the KBS phases of the floorplanning strategy presented in Chapter 3. The complex and combinatorial nature of the VLSI design domain required specific attention to two issues: knowledge representation and the current context structure. This chapter discusses these two issues and describes the way they were approached in PIF.
