Abstract
In Chapter 2 we discussed a common top-down IC design methodology and presented some of the activities that humans perform when floorplanning, and we have reviewed previous work on the automation of some of these activities. We have also presented the limitations of a purely algorithmic approach and investigated the limitations of a purely KBS approach to IC floorplanning.
