Abstract

Atomic ordering at the interfaces of NiSi2 and CoSi2 with Si is discussed in terms of silicide surface structures and interface energy calculations. The structural energetics of CaSi2 and its Si interface are considered. The kinematics and dynamics of ballistic electron transmission at these interfaces are discussed in relation to ballistic electron emission microscopy and potential device applications.
