Electron Spectroscopy of Graphite Intercalation Compounds

  • Chapter
Graphite Intercalation Compounds II

Part of the book series: Springer Series in ((SSMATERIALS,volume 18))

Abstract

This chapter deals with experiments designed to probe the electronic structure of GICs. A vast number of such experiments have been carried out since the explosion in GIC science in the late 1970s. The possible applications of GICs led to many experiments probing the electronic structure very near the Fermi edge in energy and investigating the shape of Fermi surfaces. These experiments and their comparison with various theoretical models led to the formulation of models for the charge distribution in GICs that will be described in this chapter. The experiments and corresponding background information can be found in review articles [3.1–3] and in other chapters of this book.
