Zusammenfassung
Bei den pleomorphen Xanthoastrozytomen (PXA) handelt es sich urn seltene, bei Jugendli-chen auftretende Tumoren, bei welchen das auffallend polymorphe histologische Bild mit einer allgemein günstigen Prognose kontrastiert. Sie liegen zumeist temporal oder parietal und breiten sich sowohl in den Meningen als auch oberflächlich kortikal aus. Diese Eigenschaft als Grenzgänger zwischen mesenchymalem und neuroektodermalem Gewebe, die ein entsprechendes Korrelat im histologischen Bild findet, hat seit der Erstbeschreibung als nosologisch Entität durch Kepes et al. 1979 (3) zu Kontroversen in der Frage der Zuordnung geführt, welche bis heute noch nicht entschieden sind.
