Zusammenfassung
50–100 Patienten pro Millionen Einwohner erreichen pro Jahr in den westlichen Ländern die Phase der terminalen Niereninsuffizienz. Etwa 1/3 der Patienten sind an einer Glomerulonephritis erkrankt. Diese Entzündung der Nierenfiltrationskörperchen ist damit die häufigste Ursache der terminalen Niereninsuffizienz. Die Ursachen, die zur Glomerulonephritis führen, sind überwiegend immunologischer Art. Dies wurde bereits vor über 70 Jahren von Pirquet vermutet und durch Untersuchungen an Nierenbiopsien sowie durch zahlreiche Tierexperimente belegt. Nach dem Immunfluoreszenzmuster lassen sich drei verschiedene Formen der Glomerulonephritiden unterscheiden:

keine Immunglobulinablagerungen;
-
b)
granuläre Immunglobulinablagerungen und
-
c)
lineare Immunglobulinablagerungen entlang der glomerulären Basalmembran.
