Zusammenfassung
Der Ultraschall ist in der Zoologie seit nunmehr fast 200 Jahren bekannt. 1794 berichteten die beiden Italiener Spallanzani und Lazarro über den Ultraschallorientierungssinn von Fledermäusen. Kurze Zeit später konnte nachgewiesen werden, daß Fledermäuse ihre Orientierungsfähigkeit bei fehlendem Augenlicht nicht verlieren, hingegen bei mechanismen Verschluß ihrer Gehörgänge.
