  • Chapter
Fertility of Soils

Part of the book series: Springer Series in Physical Environment ((SSPENV,volume 10))

Abstract

The population is growing in the savannah area and despite the rural exodus pressure on the cultivable land is increasing significantly. This crowding of the rural space and profound changes in outlook, which are related to the change from a subsistence to a market economy, has completely altered the relation between the farmer and his land. But the way in which the farming resource has been affected varies between different farming situations.
