Abstract

Soon after Oenothera was introduced into genetics, it was discovered that there were some peculiarities in its genetic behaviour. The laws of Mendelian inheritance, which were within a few years of their rediscovery known to describe the genetic behaviour of hybrid progenies in many cases in plants and animals, seemed not to be applicable to some results observed in Oenothera.
