Ultrahigh Peak Power Generation: Present and Future
Compact solid-state laser sources based on “Chirped Pulse Amplification” are capable of generating intensities in excess of 1018 W/cm2 and make possible the investigation of a new class of relativistic experiments in a physical regime previously inaccessible.
