Zusammenfassung
Der Begriff “Simulation” ist vielschichtig. Seine Bedeutung hat im Lauf der Jahre eine Wandlung erfahren, die nicht zuletzt auf die nunmehr stark verbesserten technischen Möglichkeiten zurückgeht. Jedoch findet die Charakterisierung “Lösen von Problemen mit Hilfe von Experimenten an Modellen” weitgehende Zustimmung. Damit ist ein wichtiger Aspekt aufgezeigt: Eine Simulation — die nicht notwendig auf einem Rechner durchgeführt werden muβ — zeichnet sich dadurch aus, daβ mit einem Modell Versuche angestellt werden. Bei einer Rechnersimulation ist also stets eine relativ groβe Zahl von Experimenten (basierend auf einem oder mehreren Simulationsläufen) notwendig.
