Abstract
For the United States, Department of Defense, the Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) coordinates mapping, charting and geodesy (MC&G) activities within NATO, in accordance with NATO Geographic Policy. DMA provides MC&G data to the user community. For the most part, we don’t provide software to manipulate the data, although today we do maintain data transformation programs supporting specific user systems. We also don’t develop systems which use our data. Our responsibility is to make sure that MC&G data is robust enough for successful use, and is provided in an acceptable, standardized format for those systems.
