Zusammenfassung
Ausgehend von dem theoretischen Beitrag Iwai’s wird in dem vorliegenden Papier eine empirische Analyse des dynamischen Wettbewerbs für sechs Wirtschaftszweige der Bundesrepublik Deutschland versucht. In der reduzierten Form des Iwai-Modells bestimmen Innovations- und Imitationsaktivitäten der Unternehmen sowie die Selektionsmechanismen des Marktes die Verteilung der Durchschnittskosten der Branche. In dem Papier wird gezeigt, daß man auf der Basis empirischer Renditeverteilungen die Parameter des Iwai-Modells schätzen kann. Die Analyse stützt sich auf einen Datensatz, den Albach u.a. durch eine Befragung von 463 Unternehmen erhoben haben.
Abstract
Based on a theoretical approach of Iwai, the paper at hand tries an empirical analysis of Schumpeterian competition for six industries of the Federal Republic of Germany. In the reduced form of Iwai’s Model the distribution of average-costs of the industry is determined by innovation-and imitation activities of the firms and the selection mechanism of the market. The paper shows, that empirically given distributions of profits can be used to estimate the parameters of the Iwai-model.
