Abstract
As the President of the Society of Polymer Science, Japan, it is a great pleasure for me to congratulate Professor Otto Vogl and the Organizing Committee on successfully holding the First Pacific Polymer Conference in the splendid environment of Maui, Hawaii, U. S. A., December 12–15, 1989. The number of the active participants exceeded 400, including over 140 from Japan. On behalf of the Japanese participants, I wish to thank the organizers and the Local Committee members for their many efforts to prepare and hold this exciting international conference.
