Zusammenfassung
Flutamid ist ein wirksames nichtsteroidales Antiandrogen ohne andere antagonistische oder agonistische Wirkungen. Es wird gut aus dem gastrointestinalen Trakt resorbiert, schnell metabolisiert und im Urin ausgeschieden. Flutamid ist funktionell spezifisch für die androgenabhängigen akzessorischen Sexualorgane wie den ventralen Teil der Prostata und die Samenblasen. Seine Wirkung beruht wahrscheinlich auf der Inhibition der Bindung von Testosteron und Dihydrotestosteron an die nukleären Rezeptoren (Neri u. Kassem 1984). Eine intakte Hypophyse oder Nebenniere ist für die Wirkung von Flutamid nicht erforderlich.
