Zusammenfassung

Bereits im 4. Jahrhundert vor Christus wurde über das Auftreten von Krampfanfällen in der späten Schwangerschaft berichtet, die oft mit dem Tod von Mutter und Kind endeten. Mit Hilfe der antihypertensiven und antikonvulsiven Behandlung konnte aber erst in unserem Jahrhundert eine drastische Reduktion der mütterlichen und kindlichen Sterblichkeit erreicht werden. Trotzdem sind Präeklampsie und Eklampsie auch heute noch die wichtigsten Ursachen für die perinatale Morbidität und Mortalität von Mutter und Kind.
