Abstract

ANP plays an important role in the regulation of volume and sodium homeostasis and can influence blood pressure. Changes of ANP levels under physiological and pathological states could be demonstrated. Studies about circadian secretion patterns can be helpful to clarify the physiological role of a hormone and can also elucidate mechanisms important in hormone secretion. As there exists little information about diurnal changes of ANP plasma levels, we studied the circadian variation of ANP in normal subjects.
