Abstract

Hemangiopericytoma is a rare vascular tumor that usually affects the soft tissues of the extremities; intra-abdominal sites represent only 10% of all published cases. In addition to its rarity, hemagiopericytoma is unusual in having an uncertain evolutionary potential: it may be malignant from the outset; a “benign” lesion associated with local or distant, benign or malignant recurrence; or a truly benign tumor. Except for those hemangiopericytomas that are malignant from the start, follow-up of these lesions can be difficult.
