Hybrid Magneto-electric Quantisation in Quasi-2D Systems

Abstract

Quantisation of electron energies in quasi-2D systems is considered, in which an external magnetic field is perpendicular to the gradient of electric potential (crossed-field configuration). The hybrid magneto-electric quantisation in the case of the rectangular well, the triangular well and the parabolic well is calculated analytically and it is shown that the hybrid quantisation offers a continuous transition between 2D and 1D systems as the magnetic field increases.
