Abstract
We present an algorithm for scanning arbitrary 3D surfaces in high resolution. Given an equidistant array of data points (sampled data of an experiment or implicity defined by an appropriate function) representing a certain distribution of temperature, density, potential, etc., the algorithm tries to find cubes which intersect surfaces of constant value of these entities. As soon as we have found one such cube of a connected set, the algorithm will generate all these cubes uniquely. It will never even check a cube which does not intersect the surface. As a demonstration we apply the algorithm to 3D fractals.
