Zusammenfassung
Unsere Theorie der „Rückfallprävention“ bildet den Rahmen für ein allgemeines Modell der Änderung von Gewohnheiten („habits“). Obwohl die Ursprünge dieser Theorie im Bereich der Suchtkrankheiten liegen, wo Rückfälle häufig und klar definierbar sind, wurde das Modell auch für andere Verhaltensweisen erweitert, bei denen ebenfalls auf die Änderung von Gewohnheiten oft periodische Rückschläge folgen. Zu diesen Verhaltensweisen gehören Eßstörungen und Diätversuche, unkontrollierte Wutausbrüche und Gewalttätigkeit, zwanghafte sexuelle Gewohnheiten (Pädophilie und Exhibitionismus) und andere Probleme der Impulskontrolle.
