Abstract

One of the most complex problems in military planning is that of transport in tactical airborne operations. It differs from transportation problems in several important aspects: it is time- dependent; it is multi-cxxnmodity with interrelations among commodities; it is capacity-constrained in a complicated manner; and, above all; it incorporates some severe military-tactical constraints. Some of these features can be found in scheduling problems, but even when viewed this way the planning process is very complex.
