Abstract

Evidence is accumulating that links proto-oncogenes to the induction or maintenance of human malignancies. Much of the evidence is derived from studies of animal models (Bishop 1983) and analyses of proto-oncogenes and their expression in human tumor cell lines and human tumors (Brodeur et al. 1984; Xu et al. 1984).
