Abstract
The work treats the forced vibration of a semi-infinite viscoelastic medium due to a point load applied at the free surface. It has been previously shown [ CURRIE, HAYES, and O’LEARY, 1977] that for certain materials two Rayleigh waves may be expected. In this work the displacement amplitudes corresponding to both Rayleigh waves due to the point source are compared for a wide range of materials.
