Abstract

Oropharyngeal carcinomas are being diagnosed with increasing frequency in the United States. Classically, these tumors occurred in 60 to 70 year old males. Now they are being found with increasing frequency in patients who are in the fourth and fifth decades of life, and the male to female ratio is declining.
