Zusammenfassung
Schon nach der Entdeckung des Elektrons mußte man sich Gedanken darüber machen, ob die Vor-stellung des Atoms als kleines, massives, in sich homogenes Teilchens von kugelförmiger Gestalt noch aufrecht erhalten werden könne. Auch der inzwischen erforschte radioaktive Zerfall ließ starke Zweifel an dieser Vorstellung aufkommen.
