Abstract

The development of monoclonal antibody technology by Köhler and Milstein [1] in 1975 revolutionized the use of antibodies as tools in cell biology, immunology, and many branches in medicine, including diagnostic pathology and dermatohistology. The value of antibodies in medicine lies in the fact that they can be used to detect specific molecules in sera and tissue sections. Antibodies have been utilized in tissue sections for this purpose since Coons et al. [2] developed immunofluorescence labelling techniques in 1941.
