Zusammenfassung
Der Stand der Aufmerksamkeitsforschung im Bereich der klinischen Neuropsychologie ist durch 2 Dinge gekennzeichnet:

Auf der einen Seite findet sich in der Literatur ein Thesaurus an sehr differenzierten und theoretisch untermauerten Untersuchungsergebnissen und Denkmodellen als Ergebnis von experimentalpsychologischen Untersuchungen der verschiedensten Aufmerksamkeitsleistungen gesunder Probanden.

Andererseits besteht im Bereich der Rehabilitation hirngeschädigter Patienten zwar bei vielen dort Tätigen eine große (wenn auch oft unsystematische) Erfahrung mit den bei dieser Patientengruppe häufig vorliegenden Aufmerksamkeitsstörungen; eine Rezeption und Überprüfung der Theorien und -Untersuchungsmethoden der experimentellen Psychologie findet jedoch nur beschränkt statt (dies mag teilweise auch in der Tatsache begründet sein, daß eine Reihe komplizierter Experimente mit himgeschädigten Patienten nicht durchführbar scheint).
