7Li NMR Study of the Electrochemical Doping of Poly(acetylene)

Abstract

We have made the first NMR measurements during the electrochemical doping of poly(acetylene). Changes in the 7Li NMR linewidth and chemical shift were observed during doping and undoping. A hysteresis in the values of linewidth was due to the presence of two lines on undoping. The presence of these two resonances suggests two types of lithium and could be evidence for two distinct intercalation stages during undoping.
